Bento vs Klaviyo

Klaviyo is the default for e-commerce, and for good reasons. Here is where it wins, where Bento wins, and what it was like to build a whole lifecycle on Bento instead.
Where does Klaviyo win?
- A large library of ready-made e-commerce flows you can switch on in minutes.
- Predictions built in, like a customer’s likely next order date and lifetime value.
- SMS and push in the same builder as email.
- A much deeper Shopify integration: carts, checkouts, fulfilment and product data arrive without any setup.
- A huge ecosystem of integrations, agencies and people who already know it.
Where does Bento win?
- Price. At around 10,000 subscribers it cost us roughly half of Klaviyo’s email plan.
- Liquid inside flow steps, not just inside emails, so a flow can make a decision once and every later step can read it.
- Your own events start flows directly, from your own delivery tracker, a daily job, or anything that can make a web request.
- Billing is simple: active users, no seat fees, and marketing sends aren’t counted.
What does each cost?

What did I actually build in Bento?
Ten live journeys for an art supplies store, each with a decision you can try:
- Replenishment: brushes never get a restock email; paint and paper do.
- Cart abandonment: the email works out the live gap to the next discount, no coupon needed.
- Post-purchase: the thank-you waits for the parcel to arrive.
- Checkout abandonment: it reads whether a UPI payment failed or the page was closed.
Questions people ask when choosing?
Is Bento cheaper than Klaviyo?
At our size, yes. When we checked in November 2026, Bento was $79 a month for 10,000 active users; Klaviyo’s email plan was around $150 for 10,000 profiles, going by review sites. Check both pricing pages for today’s numbers.
Can Bento do what Klaviyo flows do?
Most of it, if you are happy to build. Bento has fewer ready-made e-commerce flows, but lets you write Liquid in flow steps and start flows from your own events, which is how we built every journey on this site.
Does Bento work with Shopify like Klaviyo does?
Not as deeply yet. Bento’s Shopify app sends purchases; Klaviyo’s integration sends far more out of the box. On Shopify, expect to add a few Shopify Flow recipes with Bento.
Can I move my Klaviyo templates to Bento?
You will rewrite the logic. Klaviyo templates use its own Django-style tags, while Bento uses Liquid. The copy and layout carry over; the variables and conditions need translating.
Which should a small Indian store choose?
If you want to build your own journeys and keep costs down, Bento. If you want everything ready-made, deep Shopify data and SMS in one place, and the budget allows, Klaviyo.
