How do you thank your regulars?
A welcome into the inner circle once someone has spent a lot or ordered often.
What does this flow do?
Regulars are the reason a store like ours exists. This flow notices when someone becomes one and says thank you like a person would.
It is quiet on purpose: no discount, just access and attention.
When does it start?
After an order that takes someone past a lifetime spend or order count we treat as a regular.
How does it run, step by step?

- An order lands, and the flow waits a moment for the customer’s totals to update.
- It checks their lifetime spend and number of orders against our VIP line.
- It waits until their latest parcel has arrived, so the thank-you doesn’t cross with a delivery.
- A personal welcome goes out: first look at new arrivals, priority replies, and help sourcing hard-to-find materials.
- A WhatsApp note follows. After that, a short monthly list keeps them in the loop.
What happens before every send?
Every email in every flow passes the same quiet check first. Is the customer still in this flow? Have they bought since it started? Have we emailed them in the last couple of days? If any answer says wait, the flow waits a day and asks again, rather than piling another email on top.
After the send, the flow marks a short cooldown, so the next flow that wants this person knows to give them a breather.
How do you build this on your platform?
These are the events the flow needs, and where each one comes from on your store.
Order placed Works out of the box
Bento’s Shopify app sends purchases with order value and items.
Order placed Works out of the box
Bento’s plugin sends $OrderPlaced, but only when an order reaches completed.
Order placed Works out of the box
Our open-source plugin sends $purchase with items, categories and totals.
How does it connect to the other flows?
- VIPs never enter Sunset, however quiet their inbox gets.
- Win-back writes to VIPs more personally if they go quiet.
What does one of the emails say?
You have ordered from us often enough that I wanted to say thank you properly.
From now on you get first look at new arrivals, and your replies jump the queue.

Questions people ask about this flow?
When does a customer become a VIP?
When their lifetime spend or number of orders passes a line we chose for our store. The exact line matters less than checking it after every order and waiting for the parcel before saying thank you.
Should VIP emails offer discounts?
We don’t. Regulars value access and attention more: first look at new arrivals, faster replies and help finding things.
How do you release a backlog of existing VIPs?
Slowly. A daily schedule lets a small random share of the existing list through each weekday, so nobody gets a sudden blast.
