When should you stop emailing someone?
Two last letters for the long-quiet. One click keeps them; silence lets them go.
What does this flow do?
Sunset is the kindest flow we run. Instead of emailing people forever, it asks once whether they still want to hear from us, and takes silence as an answer.
One click on any email, anywhere, keeps them. VIPs never enter at all.
When does it start?
After about six months without a single open or click, for people who haven’t bought in that time.
How does it run, step by step?

- A weekday schedule picks up people who have been completely quiet for about six months.
- VIPs and anyone who bought recently never enter.
- The first letter asks one question: do you still want to hear from us?
- Any click on any email, during the next week, keeps them on the list.
- No click? A second, last letter. Still nothing, and we stop emailing them.
What happens before every send?
Every email in every flow passes the same quiet check first. Is the customer still in this flow? Have they bought since it started? Have we emailed them in the last couple of days? If any answer says wait, the flow waits a day and asks again, rather than piling another email on top.
After the send, the flow marks a short cooldown, so the next flow that wants this person knows to give them a breather.

How do you build this on your platform?
These are the events the flow needs, and where each one comes from on your store.

How does it connect to the other flows?
- A click anywhere, in any flow’s email, ends Sunset for that person.
- Any new activity on the site puts them back into the regular lifecycle.

Questions people ask about this flow?
When should you remove inactive subscribers?
After a long, real silence: about six months without an open or a click. Before removing anyone, ask once, clearly, and let a single click keep them.
Why count clicks and not opens?
Email apps now open messages automatically for privacy, so an open no longer proves a person read anything. A click does.
Does a sunset flow help deliverability?
Yes. Inbox providers notice when lots of mail goes unread. Letting the long-quiet go keeps the list healthy for everyone still reading.
